ARS Light active
ARS fault occurs typically due to faulty/loose
wiring where KMH to MPH convertor is fitted. This sends a bad signal
to the ECU and the ARS light comes on along with 4-wheel steering.
ARS is Active Rear Steer and should only be active under correct cornering
conditions.
Disconnecting the KMH to MPH convertor and putting a loop thru adapator
to complete the circuit is an easy way to test the fault.
ARS fault typically appears after 3KM of driving. The ARS light will
appear lit and the rear-steering is on 100%. This will make the car
steer better thru corners but more prone to over-steer. Also, it may
incur excess tyre wear.
- remove cover from underneath steering wheel, there are several screws
and clip. This will allow access to the right side of the drivers footwell.
Typically, the KMH to MPH convertor will be located in this area. Ensure
it is secured correctly, check wires and if unsure, fix it firmly in
place so cables are not pulled or disturbed.
- recommend removing MPH to KMH convertor so as not to cause ECU fault.
